Ridiculous because it's an ancient incompatible piece of poo?
Incompatible with what?
Runs fine on my machine.
Had really forgotten how quite scary it can be - fantastic use of sound.

Erm...what?
Ah, you mean its was released more than a month ago so therfore must be pointless. Of course.
If I recall, I think its because he got stuck at the first door.
Works fine on my machine, is still installed. I`m on the Coast guard ship. One of the best game sequences ever. Along with the Escape from Innsmouth part.

@Koorah - try it mate. If it works on your similarly PHat monitor with satisfactory results I'll stand corrected.
I tried to play this game, but the GFX just jibbed about with an incompetent "I DIDN'T KNOW THEY MADE MONITORS THIS BIG" whine.
Such ignorance of uber gaming rigs is unacceptable.

Maybe reduce resolution to 1600 x w/e it is? Ah yes of course, the gaming experience is worthless compared to graphical fidelity.
You're a funny old bird Bobi.

I just can't remember having a very good experience with it. That's all. Maybe it was pre-uber PC but post-uber Monitor. Can't remember which - I just remember giving up with it when all the white lines started flying everywhere. Hmmm... Maybe it might be worth giving one more shot.
To be fair to the Bobster, it does look graphically like Kingpin in a lot of places.
But there is a fantastic *game* in there, so the lack of eye-candy doesn't really matter, IMHO.

If it's aged as well as Thief 3, then I'd consider giving it a go. It was hardly a AAA game when it came out though...
No, it wasn't. But if you were actually a connoisseur of gaming, you would perhaps search a little deeper for an excellent gaming experience instead of whichever shiny-shiny is on the big "OUT NOW" window board in Game.
Like I said - I did try it - and it suffered from all the problems that a not very well funded game is likely to suffer from. i.e. Shoddy GFX, Shoddy Monitor support. These things might not seem like much, but I think I'd really struggle with it next to Bioshock, or even an older (but better financed) game like Thief 3.
Hell, I'd even go so far as to say the original Deus Ex looked better...

DCotE had a few bugs and I didn't like the end levels but I'd still recommend it for all the content in between! The lynch mob chasing you through the hotel in Innsmouth is one of the most tense and suspenseful moments I've ever experienced in a computer game.
Speaking of cheap games, Mass Effect (PC) is on Amazon for under a fiver!

Ah may give it a pop then, cheers for the heads up Radchek!
Amazon are also doing Dead Space quite cheap but the reviews (the ones that aren't bitchin about DRM) seem to say it's a bad console port.
I've always wanted to try Mass Effect and apparently a lot of additional developement went into the PC version to make it more compatible.

Definitely worth playing Mass Effect if you like the look of the new and even more improved sequel. All your stats carry across from the first game into the next one - Baldur's Gate style.
I recently played through the game again on hard and it hasn't aged a day, 2 years though now it is...
It's a Bioware game. If you haven't played it yet you must be mad, or have RL responsibilities or something...

Probably a bit of both! Other than the odd spot of WoW and L4D I haven't really played much since I moved into the new place. I've taken a chance and pre-ordered Red Faction: Guerilla even though it hasn't been reviewed in many places yet.
And to keep on topic, DCoTE reminded me of Vampire: Bloodlines - very bugged but still worth a play if you haven't tried it!

RF:G does look like it might be worth a blast.
Vampire: Bloodlines was amazing, if one could look beyond the obvious bugs. Kinda dissapointing that it turned into such a hack/slash fest by the end, but it was very very cool along the way. I think Bethesda have borrowed many of the better bits since for Oblivion & FO3...
I got a promo of RF:G from work last week. Still haven't played it...
