But how much exactly will they cough up for the obsolete model? And will UK retailers follow suit?

50p?
So I'm not the only one not reading stories then...
There's a story?
Brand New Site.
Same Old Sarcasm...

Site is new. I am not.
I thought everyone might behave for a few minutes.

Drop the word 'delusionist', and you're 100% right.

Actually, now the 360 looks like a PS3 I'm a little more inclined to buy one.
No no, I'm serious, I AM a little more inclined to buy one, in the same way that if a thug was wearing fluffy slippers, I'd be a little more inclined to let him kick me to death.
Pay more for a slightly more elite red ring of death? Yes please!
I would consider a trade-in if my HD was anywhere near approaching full capacity and/or I had an HDMI capable display.
As it is, I'm bottlenecked up the rear.
Doh.

Bobi, which monitor do you have and whats the deal with HD then?
Since my monitor died and ParcelForce lost it when it was returned, I was going to use the compensation money they are trying to wriggle out of to put toward one of those Dell 24 inch uber widescreens. No point getting one if its gonna be a problem though...
I know its HDCP but do I need HDMI as well?

Forget it, I have found 10 minutes form somewhere and have Googled it.
Still like to know what your monitor is and if you've had a probs though.

My monitor is a Dell 2405FPW, which was discontinued shortly after I got it (and why I got it pretty cheap, so it turns out). It's now been superceeded by the 2407FPW, the only difference I'm aware of being the addition of HDMI ports.
For yourself, it shouldn't make any difference, cos you'll probably only put VGA and/or DVI through it. Unless you're gonna watch blu-ray/HD DVD on it, you shouldn't need to worry about HDCP - although DB has more info on this than I have time for.
Response time is only 16ms I think, but I've played Half Life 2 through it and it looked fine. Console stuff is fine, cos the frame-rate's locked down at a much lower rate anyway.
JC has the newer version of my monitor. Played the PC version of Oblivion on it at a million FPS and it was fracking sweet! All he does is play WoW on it... the heathen!

Thats interesting, I'm looking at that monitor (the 2407WFP) on OcUK and it states only DVI-D with HDCP support. You see one with HDMI somewhere?
Hmmm.
Still I'll prolly be pumping the audio through a 5.1 system anyway so I can get away with that. The 8800GTX doesn't have an HDMI output either, so for games it won't matter none.

For the discerning PC Gamer, who wants all peripheral vision eliminated, you could do a lot worse I reckon... :)
I will be using this as an entertainment centre too though. I need to look into this HDMI business.
I think there a few 'HD' specific mags out there. If you fancy reading about it on the loo...
