And with Gemma Arterton signed up as the female lead, Mike Newell (Harry Potter) directing, Jerry Bruckheimer and Disney producing and a script from game creator Jordan Mechner involving those infamous Sands of Time, this could be the first truly successful videogame movie adaptation ever!

Also relevant for those of "a certain age": Flash Gordon / Buck Rogers / Highlander remakes have all be greenlit, and Christian Bale has signed on for all 3 new Terminator movies.
Oh, a Red Dawn remake is on the way too... "WOLVERINES!!!!!"...

Is all this stuff happening in light of Cannes?
Certainly lots to look forward to there... And if Bale has signed up for all three terminator cash-ins there must be something good in the works there. I can't name a s**t film he's been in off the top of my head...

Yes, the PG-13 rating will make the series accessible to the merchandising companies and make Bale very very rich.
McG is directing the first one, don't forget.
*shudder*
Although he exec produces the TV show Supernatural, which is highly entertaining.

He of Charlie's Angel: Full throttle fame (shudder indeed)
Though to be fair he could be excused by the dire subject matter...

Why the f**k did it not embed the Empire pic I added via the widget thing? FFS...
Didn't it? Are you being a "user" and not waiting for things to happen (eg. the pic to be approved) before complaining it doesn't work?
Bless.
Bless.
Looks s**t.
Highlander remake?! WTF?!
:Shudder:
Are these Terminator movies brand new or yet more Reboots?
Like Gyllenhall and all that but he's not very.....Persian is he? Perhaps this will be the one that doesn't suck but star power does not = good movie. Jolie/Tomb Raider springs to mind. She was great, the movies were...well...

The new terminator trilogy is gonna be set in the post judgement day era with Bale playing the grown up John Connor.
Considering this part of the Terminator mythology has never really been told (i.e. does it ever end well?), I'm beginning to warm to the idea considerably.
I generally put more faith in the people behind the movies than the people that star in them. Sure, it helps to have charasmatic leads, but it's all down the script and direction for me. With this in mind, Mike Newell has quite a CV (Harry Potter/Donnie Brasco)... Nuff said about Bruckheimer... though he's done a lot of cool stuff in the past.

Ok well in that case I give my permission for the Terminator films to go ahead.
Not really bothered about PoP as I doubt I'll ever see it until its on TV and I have nothing else to do.
