A grapple hook is an under-used tool in modern gaming. Just Cause 2 is looking to rectify this.

Despite some poor gameplay issues, the first game had a lot of potential. Will be keeping an eye on this.
Had JC2 for a while now, and is good brainless fun. The mapping on the controller is a bit achey (I will be suing M$ for the arthritis caused by the effing shoulder buttons), but the gameplay more than makes up for it.
Like a more laid back GTA4 with a splash of Far Cry (locations) and Red Faction Guerilla (blowing stuff up).
I do keep uninstalling it though as I hit a point where I realise I've spent 4 hours doing absolutely nothing.
Still, it's filling time until the next installment of Assassin's Creed

So you got a controller in the end then did you? Did you go for the 360 pad or something else?
I played the demo of JC2, but something didn't sit right with me. Too much mindless fun most probably...
I'm really feeling it's a bit too soon for more Assassin's Creed. I was more interested in a new reinvention of the series similar to difference between 1 & 2 than a rehash of the last game with a MP element crowbarred in. Smacks of 'Oh we got it right this time, let's just do that again' to me...
I'll definitely get round to it at some point, but this isn't a day one purchase for me. In fact, I can't think of anything coming out soon that is. Fable 3. Meh. Fallout: New Vegas - could be potentially crap and unfinished since Obsidian are making it. And that's it for me until next year...

360 controller. Had it for yonks now - got it for AC2.
Given that AC2 would rank as one of the games I'd like if I were to be stuck down a mine for months, that the next one will be more of the same is enough for me.
I blame the controller for this console mentality
JC2 is flawed - AI is dodgy and the mechanics between Agency missions are quickly monotonous, but there's enough sugar on top to keep it installed for now.
Does seem to be a lacking in forthcoming games, apart from the next AC.

Such a lacking, in fact, that TOR is looking like a viable purchase...

Did you get Mafia 2? That's still on my list for PC. You got Fallout: New Vegas too and then there are your Medal of Duties and Call of Honors...
Next on PC for me is Planescape: Torment in hacked HD, then WoW: Cataclysm for Xmas. Might get Fallout: New Vegas, but will most likely just blag VW's copy of Fable 3 when he's done with it... Co-op was pretty crappy in the last game - at least it was with the company I had to play it...

I did get Mafia 2, foolishly. Imagine GTA 50s with a whole bunch of core functionality/gameplay removed to use later as "DLC".
Shame.
Shame.
I heard mixed stuff about Mafia 2 - and that the PC version is the one to get.
I heard it's missing a bunch of sandbox/GTA style mechanics, but then the first one was like this too. What I remember loving about the first game was the scope of some of the missions and the way they kept changing up the scale: 1 minute - a rooftop gunfight, next, a chase HQ style car chase, then a bank robbery and so on... The huge city is just a highly detailed backdrop to the tightly scripted missions.
The first one was very impressive at the time, but I wonder if in today's climate it can have the same impact. I'm still gonna give it a go... next up for me however is the final 'Witch Hunt' Dragon Age DLC, followed by the Mass Effect 2 DLC/Expansions. They have a deal on Xbox Live this month: Spend 2400 M$ points on Arcade games and/or DLC and you get 800 points free. So I downloaded about 8 hours worth of game for £20. Not a bad deal...

I won't be playing this.
Witch Hunt is good, but soooooooooo short.

Agreed. ME2 DLC was far superior. Especially Shadow Broker...
Shadow Broker was frickin' excellent.

Did you play Overlord? That wasn't bad either. Reminded me of the old ME1 missions, where you used to bod about in your vehicle, get out to do some dungeon shooting stuff etc. Only the vehicle in ME2 is actually quite fun. I wonder if that features in a bigger way in ME3. Seems like they wanted a replacement for the MAKO, but it wasn't ready in time for the core ME2 experience...
Yep, played all DLC for ME2, usual peak and trough of quality from Bioware. Overlord was good, but again very short lived. The one where you pick up the thief chick (name escapes me) is probably my favourite just from the slightly different angle it presented.
Kasumi's (or rather K33f's) Stolen Memory?
Hehe, that's the kiddy.
