One more MMORPG to rule them all? It would indeed appear that EA have a potential WoW beater on their hands...

After reading all of that I can safely say this another one for the post-new-PC pile.
2 things: Conjunctions and titles.
So, better group play and more meainingful character development.
PVP and end game content seems a bit of a mystery right now, but since I'm not even anywhere near approaching the first 20 levels of the game I'm still VERY interested.
Hmmm... perhaps some kind of finance option might be in order...

In related news, reviews from people that don't have their pockets being lined by games companies suggest it isn't a WoW beater at all.
It's also allegedly full of people doped up on LOTR lore going doo-lally when someone asks "what does LOL mean?".
I'll wait for Conan, Tabula Rasa or the Stargate and Trek MMOs before prying myself away from the big daddy that is WoW.

OMFG! I can literally feel the aggression in this rant. Not that I took it as a personal attack... Was that your actual intention then?
I'm guessing baiting so I'll move along

Well could you link to these reputable non-biased sources then instead of just telling me about them? I don't make a habit of googling 'LOTR+apathy' very much.
I'm interested in the game systems going on here just as much as I am about wandering about in Tolkien's world. There's definitely a SWGesque pull there in that respect...
...and I've seen it running on JC's machine. When he dropped down the class-specific 'Titles' tabs and explained to me what they were, by jaw nearly hit the floor. And that has happened to me regarding a PC game since, erm... WoW probably...

Reputable is subjective. You read EG stuff and take it as gospel. You read LOTR stuff and take it as BEST (whatever) EVER. I don't have a problem with either, until you start digging trenches and asking me to back up what I'm saying lol
Please stop taking somebody's different opinion to yours as a personal attack, before it turns into personal attacks - apathy wasn't mentioned at all. If you want to post LOTR news and not have people post their opinions on it that may differ to yours, post it on your blog. And turn the comments off.
This post has been substantially trimmed of the F-word in an attempt to not have all the Google ads link to pr0n sites...

Jeez mate. I'm looking at my last post there and I can't see anything that would suggest I interpreted your comment as a personal attack!
I think you should maybe turn that around to yourself. You had absolutely no need to defend yourself there, I was simply interested in reading an alternative opinion to balance up my current enthusiasm for the game.
(Even though looking at my sources it's received nothing but praise so far - http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/pc/middleearthonline)

The first line was ambiguous in it's "i'm lazy / i don't believe such nonsense / you're all wrong and i'm right!"-ness
The Digg story on the game release (complete with TM in the story title, how sad) has some good/bad comments from people playing it.
For the record, I enjoyed the beta - looked great, played like everything else apart from WoW. But after the looks great wears off, I'll be sticking to the plays great of WoW.

I heard that it's more like WoW than any other MMOG, and even surpasses it in some aspects.
And it's the only MMOG to have received 'generally favourable reviews' since WoW, so the logical conclusion surely must be: This is the best MMOG since WoW.
I am willing to put money on all the games you mention there flopping. Utterly. This is a one-off, and it's about time a game came along to eat into WoW's monopoly.
Appreciate you've given Beta a go. That was enough to hook me on WoW, but then there was nothing else about quite like it.
I am gagging to play LOTRO now...

I'll wager one Azeroth gold piece
I suspect your wrongness is blighted by fanboy-ism with parts of that statement - the Stargate and Trek MMOs will succeed for the same reason LOTRO (and Galaxies, initially) will do well - established fanbase.
Conan and Tabula - both look fantastic and both have elements that aren't just "a better way of doing the same thing than WoW".
Interested to hear what you make of LOTRO if you give it a go - let me know and I'll watch out for a free trial, as I'm sure one, like a gaggle of hobbits looking for a ring, will be along shortly

Hogwash. The reason LOTRO is getting 'generally favourable reviews' has nothing to do with Tolkien. It's about the chuffing gameplay. No amount fan-boyism saved the Matrix Online and wasn't that supposed to be a no-brainer game that would work ever so well.
I'm just saying that Star Trek/Gate online had better f**king good is all... MMOGs by their very nature are s**te, it takes a game like WoW or LOTRO to do the job... apparently...

We're linking other sites reviews now... Oh for shame.

Yeah, that's just wrong!
(wonders if he should remove the STALKER review...)

Hehe, it's just strange that's all, but I suppose in the absence of our own it's not really a problem.
