Fag pack calculations would seem to sugest that is enough to relace about 3.5 million consoles at full retail price.
guffaw
Its about time that they done somthing about it!
Think you'll find a sledgehammer will fix it just fine.
lol... im just keeping away from it entirely!
PS3 all the way baby! (when i eventualy get round to getting one)

And that, I believe, should shut DB up finally.
On the plus side at least they finaly seem to be acting responsibly.
New tech does seem to be unreliable.
I got through about 6 Intelivisons (made by Matel) during the warranty period.

Seriously, did this actually come as a surprise to anyone following next gen' consoles in general?
M$ have cut every corner possible in their bid to takeover the market. Buying exclusivity and extending warranties is gonna cost them dearly, but it will all be worth it if it means a massive installed user-base.
Having a broken-down console isn't the best thing in the world, but it's really M$ that suffers as a result, not the end user...

Massive user base? How about lots of replacement consoles going to a considerably smaller base than the figures suggest?
Seriously, nothing like the inconveniemce of sending your console back for the 2nd/ 3rd/ 4th/ 5th/ 6th time, because it wasn't built to last. Nothing like not being able to rely on something that cost you a couple of hundred notes and is presumably built for fun times. I'm sure everyone just smiles and packs it off to Msoft. Nothing irksome or scandalous about that at all, eh?
Spin away, Bobi....they've got you hook line and sinker. :/
You've got it partially right though. Being in a rush to get their cheaply constructed PC-lite to market is at the root of this debacle. Sony are, as with PS1 and 2, in it for the long haul. If you think this won't hurt Msoft in the long run, then you're a bit silly really. :(

Jayzus...seriously, no trolling intended, but this is a bit ripe, innit?

thats bad play.... if they are admitting to the design fault, and that it is found in SO MANY of their units, they should be recalling them.....
Mine still works.
Ticking time bomb mate.
Still you've got a proper system on the way soon so you've only got to make it another few weeks and hey presto, the house gets a new white doorstop.
